As Delaware's first permitted, full service material recovery facility, Blue River Resources accepts recyclable materials – such as paper, cardboard, glass and plastics – that are collected from residential, commercial and institutional customers. Blue River Resources separates, aggregates and markets these recyclable materials, diverting them from disposal facilities.
The Blue River Resources management team has decades of experience operating and managing recycling and resource management facilities. With our long-term relationships with brokers and end-users of recyclable products, Blue River Resources can provide sustainable markets and guaranteed payment for commodities.
In 2011, Blue River Resource – a privately owned recycling and resources management company – made a multi-million dollar investment to redevelop a Wilmington brownfield site installing sophisticated and highly automated equipment. With this permitted Delaware location, Blue River Resources is uniquely positioned to support Delaware’s recently enacted Universal Recycling Law.
Supporting Delaware’s Universal Recycling Law
Blue River Resources opened Delaware’s first fully permitted and regulated, comprehensive material recovery facility to support Delaware’s Universal Recycling Law.
In 2010, Delaware passed the Universal Recycling Law requiring that:
- Single family residents are offered curbside recycling September 15, 2011
- Multi-family residents are offered curbside recycling January 1, 2013
- Businesses are offered recycling January 1, 2014
Operating a centrally located material resource facility, Blue River Resources supports Delaware’s Universal Recycling Law by providing a local outlet for recyclables. This local and permanent facility reduces transportation costs for haulers, reduces emissions from trucks and helps Delaware to reduce the use of energy and the amounts that end up in landfills. Recycling programs not only provide a positive environmental impact, it can significantly reduce disposal costs.
