BADER/PT/Independence Prosthetics Orthotics Clinic

BADER Consortium was developed with the goal of helping service members with limb loss reach optimal function goals.

Thanks to a partnership with Independence Prosthetics-Orthotics and the physical therapy clinic at the University of Delaware, civilians with limb loss have the opportunity to optimize the fit and function of their prosthetic devices.

The clinic, which opened last fall, offers a collaboration point between clinicians, patients and researchers with the goal of translating research and directly impacting patient care.

Information captured through motion analysis can help clinicians make changes to a prosthesis to improve function and comfort for patients. Researchers can use the information gleaned while patients are walking on the treadmill and their movements are being recorded by the surrounding high-speed cameras.
